field trip to ocean aviation
Stations with tim, mike, steve, tj, and socrates
As we first arrived to the aviation center, we met the main men who run the operation. Socrates started out by giving us a run down of the maintenance. I could tell that he knew a lot about the subject matter and he seemed pretty cool. I liked how he described the different parts of the engine.
Secondly, Steve told me about the different VOR stations around this area. He told us how high you need to be to fly over certain airports. He had a map just like our activity the other day about the VOR stations. I could tell he knew a lot about flying because he answered all of our questions.
The next station was with TJ as he told us about pilot training. I could tell he wasn't that up to par on his knowledge and then I found out that this was only his second week on the job. However, he did know a lot about pilot training but his knowledge on the facts lacked.
Mike then told my group about the different controls inside the cockpit, which some of them we already knew. I learned that you only grip the yoke with your left hand, and most fly with just three fingers. I didn't know that the control panel was so large and covered up so much space in front of you either.
Finally, Tim told us about the inspection you need to do before you can fly any plane.I learned that most planes carry their fuel in the wings of the plane, instead of the fuselage. If any damage whatsoever is on the plane, it must be taken care of before you can take off. I knew almost all the parts on the plane that he was talking about.

conclusion
1. I learned that aviation fuel weighs 6 pounds per gallon, and its blue.
2. I already knew that planes that are very old can still work like they're brand new.
3. I would ask what it costs to buy a Cessna trainer plane.
4. the trip would have been better if we got to see the runway.
